Introducing Geckos New Tail

Some Upcycled hats in Upcyclist boxes

I’m motivated by seeing the upcycling endeavors of other people. Their work often becomes the inspiration for the next Upcyclist project or idea to be tested. Every now and again I find someone whose work is so creative and well put together that I don’t want to emulate them, or rehash the idea, all I want to do is support them and see that they keep up the good upcycling. Michelle and Paul at Geckos New Tail are upcyclists who fall into this category.

Introducing Geckos New Tail

Hats by Geckos New Tail

They make a range of clothing from funky old fabrics. What sets Gecko’s New Tail apart from other work of this kind is they do it well. Their stuff looks quirky and cool. You actually feels like you have something new and interesting. It’s the eco conscious antidote to mass produced clothing.

Now, my old clients will attest that when I am working I generally wear a hat and not just any hat but some kind of oddball (and hopefully stylish) hat I found in a second hand store, so naturally I was drawn to the caps made by Paul. In the spirit of respecting fellow artisans I proposed a trade, an Upcyclist creation for a Gekos New Tail cap, no money to change hands but lets share and enjoy each others work.

If your ever around the Northern Rivers you can check out Geckos New Tail at the Yamba Riverside markets or the Iluka Emporium. If your not nearby they are also online here  and I know they are happy to customized items to fit your exact measurements.
